Reaching the East

The University of Haifa visits ECNU


The Rector Prof. David Faraggi went to visit East China Normal University (ECNU) along with four professors from the Statistics Department in December 2015. This visit accelerated the existing partnership and cooperation between both universities under the framework of the Shanghai Haifa International Research Center (SHIRC), which was inaugurated in April 2015 by both sides.

Introducing New Master's programs
New Master of Arts program s in Social Work and Jewish Studies will open in upcoming academic year 2016-2017

We are introducing two new international graduate programs scheduled to open in October 2016 – Master of Arts in Social Work and Master of Arts in Jewish Studies. The master’s program in Social Work explores vantage points of marginalized and minority populations, placing an emphasis on Israel's complex multicultural society. The master’s program in Jewish Studies offers a comprehensive combination of Jewish history, philosophy and thought, weaving together Biblical and Talmudic Studies, Jewish History, Philosophy and Mysticism. We are now accepting applications for all our graduate programs.

The graduate division of the University of Haifa International School has updated its blog.

With the number of international graduate programs hitting 17, we have relaunched our blog “Graduate Life in Haifa” with a new exciting look and content. Texas A&M Partners with University of Haifa

for Marine Research


The University of Haifa and Texas A&M University recently announced joint plans to establish a major Mediterranean observatory to study oceanography and the atmosphere. The planned observatory will be called the Texas A&M – University of Haifa Eastern Mediterranean Observatory (THEMO). The observatory will be located at the University of Haifa with its access to critical Mediterranean coastal regions, while drawing on instrumentation and analytical expertise of Texas A&M University faculty and their similar research initiatives in the Gulf of Mexico.

Every Student Has a story: Meet Matthias

Matthias Messerle is 23 years old from the University of Tubingen in Germany. 

Why Haifa? “Because I was looking for a place where I can study Jewish Studies and Islamic Studies. A place where I can combine both cultures, where it is safe. I have been to Israel before, so I knew that Haifa has an atmosphere of multicultural of understanding and coexistence.”

Winter: Arabic Culture and Media course

The University of Haifa, International School will be launching a new language program this coming Winter: Arabic Culture and Media course. This course introduces students whose proficiency in Arabic is on the high intermediate level to the language used in Arabic audio and written media. The course focuses on the vocabulary and grammatical structures of the news items, as well as an analyses of content. In class activities include listening comprehension and discussions of topics related to current events, society, and culture.
