Dr. Rana Zaher is from Nazareth city, north of Israel, and works as a lecturer of Linguistics at the English Language and Literature Department of Oranim Academic College. Dr. Zaher graduated from the Salvatorian Sisters' Greek Catholic High School in Nazareth, and pursued her academic studies at the University of Haifa where she completed her BA double majoring in English Language and Literature and Special Education in 1997. In 2001, she was awarded her MA from the English Langauge and Literature Department of the University of Haifa as well, majoring in Sociolinguistics. Her doctorate studies were pursued in England, at Anglia Ruskin University in Chelmsford where she was awarded her PhD in Sociolinguistics in 2011. Currently, she is conducting her post-doctorate research at the Department of Foreign Literatures and Linguistics at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev. Dr. Zaher's research interests include language and gender, and language and nationalism.
