Arab Israeli Relations- Online Course

This four-week summer online course offers 2 academic credits and an immersive exploration of the nuanced and multifaceted relationships in the Middle East. Conducted in English, this program delves into a broad spectrum of themes to provide a layered understanding of the region’s dynamics. Participants will engage with diverse topics, including:

  • The historical evolution of Jewish-Arab relations
  • The complexities of the Arab-Israeli conflict
  • The ideological underpinnings of Zionism and its impact
  • The political and social landscapes of Israel and Arab nations
  • The role of religion and culture in shaping the Middle East
  • The impact of international relations on the region

Focusing on the development of Jewish and Arab nationalism and the resulting tensions, particularly as expressed through the complex Palestinian-Israeli relationship, this course equips a diverse student body with a deep and nuanced understanding of the historical and contemporary aspects of the Arab-Israeli relationship. Through a mix of engaging lectures, interactive discussions, and critical analysis, students will gain the knowledge and skills to thoughtfully navigate and contribute to discussions on current events and potential future developments in the region.

About the Faculty

Yisrael Ne’eman has a B.A. in Middle Eastern Studies from Rutgers University and an MA in Jewish History from the University of Haifa. He teaches courses at the University of Haifa and the Technion International Schools pertaining to Israel, the Jewish people, and the Middle East focusing on nationalism and Jihad related topics. Over the years he has lectured elsewhere in Israel and abroad.

Ne’eman has been a professional tour guide since 1985 with an emphasis on educational programming. He was local council chairman of the Eshhar Community Village for twelve years where he lives with his wife Susan. His recent book Hamas Jihad was published by White Hart Publications and is available on Amazon.

The course will be taught online via Zoom.

Admissions Requirements

This course is open to students who are above 18 and are currently enrolled in a university.

Candidates must demonstrate the following:

  • Minimum grade point average  2.7 or above 75
  • Good communication skills in English language (spoken and written)
