About:

Students who come to UHaifa International for a gap semester or year, are in for an experience they will never forget! Our numerous courses and special track programs fulfill wide ranging academic and cultural interests.

Shaping the Future: Interdisciplinary excellence program that offers clusters in Social Science, Education, Humanities, Law, Environmental Intelligence, and Public Health. The program is taught in English by faculty from a variety of departments from within the University of Haifa. All courses are academically accredited in accordance with the standards and criteria of North American and European universities. While engaging in a program in Haifa, you will be able to explore the city’s beauty, its cultural life, and diversity, all of which are represented on campus.

Please Note: All syllabi on the website are subject to minor changes prior to the beginning of the semester. The syllabus supplied at the start of each class will be the most up-to-date version.

The courses listed in the course catalog below are subject to cancellation due to insufficient enrollment.

Admission Requirements

  •  Recent high school graduate and over 18 years of age by the start of the semester
  • Official transcript- High School Final Grade of 85 or equivalent
  • English Fluency Exam- minimum score of 89 on TOEFL (5.5-6 equivalent in IELTS), CET 6: 435 or CET 4: 580, level B2 in Erasmus system (For non-native English speakers/ Institutions), Duolingo English Test 110
  • 2 academic letters of recommendation from teachers
  • Essay/Motivation Letter: Between 400-500 words about why you wish to study at the UHaifa International, and what you hope to gain from your study abroad experience.
  • Medical forms signed by a doctor vouching for participant’s health and ability to participate in a study abroad program.

Supplementary Forms:

  • Dormitories Contract (If residing in dorms)

If your transcripts are not from a school in the United States, then you must:

  • Have your transcript translated into English.
  • Have your grades and their average calculated according to the system used in the United States (GPA). This translation and calculation must be submitted as an official document from your university.
  • A copy of the original (untranslated) official transcript should accompany the translated one.
Course Load and Credit Information

  • The course load for a student studying in the Gap Program of UHaifa International is 12 credits minimum and 18 credits maximum per semester.
  • All of the courses in the Gap Program of UHaifa International are undergraduate courses. They may require a research paper or mid-term examination and a final examination or paper.

Credit Equivalence

  • 1 Study Abroad credit = 1 American university credit
  • 1 Study Abroad credit = 1.5 ECTS

Students are not permitted to leave the program before the end of the semester/course and final exams. If special circumstances require special consideration, students must let the Student Advisor know prior to the start of the semester so the matter can be considered, and if deemed academically necessary, permission will be given.

Please keep this in mind when booking plane tickets.

Final papers/ seminar papers will be due after the semester has ended. Exact dates of final paper submissions will be given during orientation and should be on course syllabi.

Grading System

The following is the grading system in the Study Abroad Program of UHaifa International:

A+ = 97-100
A = 93-96
A- = 90-92
B+ = 87-89
B = 83-86
B- = 80-82
C+ = 77-79
C = 73-76
C- = 70-72
D+ = 67-69
D = 63-66
D- = 60-62
F = Below 60

There is no pass/fail option in the Gap Year Program of UHaifa International.

Transcripts

Transcripts:

Your official University of Haifa transcript is issued by the International School approximately one month after the end of the semester.

Please Note: Transcripts will not be issued unless all tuition, dormitory, activities, and gym fees as well as library fines have been paid and you have vacated your dormitory room in good order.

  • application fee: $100
  • Tuition fee per Fall\Spring Semester: $ 7200
  • Tuition fee per Academic Year: $ 12,000

Includes: insurance, all program-related tours, excursions, & activities, and full academic credit.
